Robothon® – The Grand Challenge: Be part of it!

We are excited to invite you to participate in Robothon® – The Grand Challenge, which is set to make its third round appearance at automatica 2023. As you may already know, Robothon® is a global competition that brings together roboticists to create transferable physical robotics manipulation skills with their own robot platform towards pressing industrial challenges. This year's challenge will focus on autonomously handling electronic waste, and we are inviting teams to develop hardware and software over a four-week period, working alongside our international community of developers, partners, and sponsors.

Flexible robotic cell for force-controlled gearbox assembly

Primus Präzisionstechnik, a manufacturer of special gears, was looking for a solution for a manual production process, in which small gears are made from several individual parts for a customer in the automotive industry, to be automated with robots. In this force-controlled pick-and-place and joining process, three shafts and five gears have to be fitted into a gear housing. Although Primus did not yet have any experience or know-how in robotics, the company decided to implement this automation project itself without external support.

LASER World of PHOTONICS and automatica will take place in parallel from 2023

Surprise from Munich: automatica will start again in 2023. Good reason for the change: the trade fair is changing its rhythm and will therefore be held in parallel with LASER World of PHOTONICS in the future. After that, it continues in the usual two-year cycle. The decision is all the more logical since the range of exhibitions at automatica and LASER World of PHOTONICS go together perfectly: Lasers for welding, cutting, labeling and recording have become indispensable in highly automated production lines.
